Tennis can be broken down into six situations.
1. Serving
2. Returning
3. Baseline Rallying
4. Approach / Volley Shots
5. Passing Shots / Lobs
5. Lob Defense
Once you’ve played long enough. You’ll develop a signature. With that signature, you can then break the game down further.
Working
Inside / Outside the court
Middle / Inside
Outside / Middle
Outside /Middle / Short
Then create a route tree similar to football or create plays. Blending your game into a script that allows for anticipation via tactics and reaction via the open nature of the sport. Though the bulk of what you’ll see in the library is what I would call struggle work (depending on your level). With the seeming drills within the library. I prefer to call and keep the mindset of constant situations of refinement. I can always work on the worst part of my game or I can craft it by way of
1. End the point here
2. No more than x amount of balls
3. Specific tactic or play
4. Force an error
5. 1st Ball redirect
6. 1st Ball return to the sender
7. Only finish ball X
8. The reoccurring pattern
It really boils down to what’s the intent of the session or situation. The bulk of this isn’t difficult. The difficult part comes in embracing the simple yet fixable errors that occur. During training and in matches, along with altering the viewpoint of the participant. Showing and conveying the pros of this style. Not pushing this as an end all be all. But finding the blend.

Flow what you’re already capable of, just magnified in a higher state of arousal.
