This is a governing principle for Transcending Performance. Using the gps and the heart rate monitor it allows you to know what the game demands from each individual. Looking at everything as either better than, at one’s or below one’s level. It allows for a great deal of wiggle room when programming. Also creating the conversation of knowing vs feeling for the athlete. In addition, the timing gates are a great to illustrate “speed situations”. In every sport there’s a few situations that demand a touch of zero to twenty two miles per hour. The gates are great for showing the athletes, the speed is great to have but sport is about pace and tempo most of the time.
